What is Kybella?
KYBELLA™ (deoxycholic acid) injection is the first and only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness, sometimes referred to as “double chin”.

How Does Kybella work?
The active ingredient of Kybella is deoxycholic acid, naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected in to the fat beneath your chin, Kybella causes the destruction of the fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat and your body absorbs them.

How many treatments are needed?
We will design a customized treatment plan to help you improve your chin profile. Many patients experience visible contouring of their chin profile in two to four treatment sessions spaced at 6-8 weeks apart. Up to 6 treatments may be administered.

What are the side effects?
During treatment we can apply topical anesthetic and also inject lidocaine to anesthetize the area being treated. This allows for minimal discomfort during treatment. After treatment you will experience some swelling, tenderness and firmness which will slowly improve over 5-7 days. It is also possible to develop bruising and a sensation of fullness which will resolve within 2 weeks. At the end of 4 weeks you will start to see some improvement with maximum results seen in 6-8 weeks.

How long will results last?
After maximizing your aesthetic outcome the fat cells are destroyed and cannot re-accumulate fat. Therefore, most patients do not need retreatment.
